After Summer: A Time For Skin Renewal
Summer often leaves us feeling restored, but our skin may tell a slightly different story.
Weeks of longer days, outdoor activities, heat and repeated sun exposure can gradually contribute to dehydration, uneven tone, pigmentation and changes in texture. Some of these effects appear immediately, while others become more noticeable as summer fades.
September is a natural time to look more closely at what the skin needs—not by rushing into an intensive routine, but by helping it recover, rebalance and renew.
What Happens to the Skin After Summer?
Sun exposure does not always create an immediate or obvious change.
Ultraviolet exposure can stimulate pigment-producing cells within the skin. Over time, this may contribute to freckles, dark spots, uneven tone or areas of pigmentation that become more visible after repeated exposure.
Heat, travel, air conditioning, swimming and changes in routine can also affect the skin barrier. By early fall, the skin may feel:
Drier or more dehydrated
Rougher or less smooth
Duller than usual
More reactive or sensitive
Uneven in tone and fine lines
More visibly pigmented
Sun exposure also affects collagen below the surface. Although these changes develop gradually, cumulative exposure can contribute to reduced firmness and resilience over time.
This does not mean the skin needs to be treated aggressively. It means this is a useful time to assess what has changed and choose the right level of support.
Skin Care, Simplified
Hydration from the Inside and Outside
One of the simplest ways to support the skin is to combine internal hydration with consistent topical care.
During our consultations, we encourage clients to drink enough water throughout the day and apply moisturizer to the face and neck every morning and evening.
We like to think of water as a free skincare product.
Drinking water supports hydration throughout the body, while moisturizer helps reduce water loss from the surface of the skin. Together, these habits help the skin feel softer, calmer and more comfortable.
As temperatures begin to cool:
Drink water consistently throughout the day
Apply moisturizer to the face and neck morning and evening
Continue using broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning
Be Careful with Active Ingredients
It can be tempting to restart several exfoliating acids, retinol products or brightening ingredients at once. Introducing too many active products too quickly can disrupt the skin barrier and create unnecessary irritation.
Allow the Skin to Settle
A calm, well-hydrated skin barrier is often better prepared for treatments targeting pigmentation, texture and overall skin quality.
Fall skincare does not need to become complicated. A few well-chosen changes are usually more helpful than an entirely new routine.
The Floresta Philosophy
Renewal Begins with Understanding
At Floresta, we do not believe every visible concern should be treated in the same way.
Pigmentation may be influenced by sun exposure, inflammation, hormones or previous irritation. Dryness can reflect temporary dehydration or a weakened skin barrier. Changes in texture may occur at the surface or involve deeper collagen decline.
Understanding what we are seeing helps us choose treatments more thoughtfully.
Sometimes the right next step is an advanced treatment. At other times, the skin first needs hydration, barrier support or a simpler home routine.
Renewal is not about doing everything at once.
It is about choosing the right next step for your skin.
Featured Experience
Our Fall Skin Renewal experience was created to address the changes that often become more noticeable after summer.
The treatment includes:
LaseMD Ultra for the face and neck
A customized brightening and skin-renewal serum
A hydrating mask
Dermalux medical-grade phototherapy
Ballancer Pro lymphatic drainage for the legs and hips
LaseMD Ultra is a gentle, non-ablative laser treatment that supports skin renewal while helping improve the appearance of sun damage, pigmentation, fine lines, uneven tone, texture and dullness.
The treatment is suitable for all skin types and involves minimal downtime. Most clients experience redness for approximately two to four hours.
Phototherapy and a hydrating mask provide additional calming and restorative support. Ballancer Pro uses gentle, rhythmic compression to support lymphatic drainage through the lower body, providing a relaxing wellness experience while your skin is being treated. By supporting lymphatic flow and circulation through the legs and abdomen, Ballancer Pro may help reduce temporary fluid retention and feelings of heaviness, leaving the lower body feeling lighter, less puffy and deeply relaxed.
Fall Skin Renewal is $650 and includes the neck at no additional charge.
Clients can be booked directly for a brief consultation, skincare review and treatment during the same appointment.
